Rehabilitating After Surgery

Every person responds differently to surgery. Rehabilitation will depend on your age, the physical features of your shoulder condition and the nature of your surgical repair.

To ensure that each patient gets individual attention and tailored rehabilitation, Dr Scott prefers personally to direct the rehabilitation. He does not provide patients with standard post-surgical management protocols.  Your rehabilitation will be managed carefully and individually through a number of follow-up post-operative appointments with Dr Scott, which begin one week after the surgery and continue until Dr Scott is satisfied that your recovery is progressing well.

There is no doubt that many patients are helped to recover more rapidly with physiotherapy but this is not always essential and in some instances can be detrimental. For some types of surgery, physiotherapy can be too intensive or undertaken too soon.  Dr Scott will provide you with clear advice and direction regarding physiotherapy during your post-operative follow-up appointments.
